Regolith formed in 2005 for the purpose of creating music on a geological scale; music of mountains, shifting like glaciers, slow and relentless processes on grand timescales. From deep tectonic ambience to explosive volcanic noise, this is music of stone, designed to be as contemplative and beautiful - yet unpredictable and dangerous - as nature itself. From deep tectonic ambience to explosive volcanic noise, this is music of stone, designed to be as contemplative and beautiful - yet unpredictable and dangerous - as nature itself. A bizarre mix of all of the above. We are really aiming to take the metal aspects of bands such as Sunn0))) and add in orchestral textures reminiscent of Messiaen, Benjamin and Boulez, sometimes building up to something like a Holy McGrail distorto freakout, bringing solos and melodies in the vein of Sun Ra's wonky space jazz, touching on the humour and intensity of Frank Zappa, whilst maintaining the epic soundtrack quality of Earth. All this with just a guitar and laptop.... Our music has been described as: " The soundtrack to the end of the world...

sounds like the interval to the end of the universe.....Music to destroy planets to....Sound like a lost session from Miles Davis' 'Tutu' album when Miles and half the band's taxi got lost......I could imagine myself dancing naked among wicker Jesus' in a forest to it pretty easily....etc.etc!
