prune. was formed in Stockholm, Sweden and the original line-up of the band in 1995 was: Johan Sjöblom on vocals and guitars, Richard Lundberg on bass, Sonny Scott on drums, Johan Syrén on guitars and Karl Hultman on Synthesizers. With this setting, the band played numerous concerts in clubs and on festivals, mainly in the area in and around Stockholm, Sweden. During the period 1995 and 1997 they recorded 3 demo tapes. In 1998 they were signed to Ad Inexplorata, and the recording of their debut-CD "Lovely day" was initiated. During the recording Karl Hultman was replaced by Gustav Schoerner, and vocalist Johan Sjöblom decided to concentrate mainly on his songwriting and guitar playing, handing the microphone over to Johan Syrén.

Guitarist Miguel Annefalk joined prune in 1998, but was forced to leave shortly after the CD was completed. "Lovely Day" was released on March 23 1999 and sold about as good as was expected (about 500 copies). Radio play was limited. During the rest of 1999 and the first half of 2000 the band changed direction slightly; The 90's indie sound was replaced by a more progressive and more blues influenced style. Due to this internal disagreements appeared and the band decided to split up, their last gig - apart from a brief reunion in 2003 with a new line up - took place at Stampen, Stockholm, june 7 2000. All members have kept on playing music, most noteably Johan Sjöblom who joined Fake Moss in 2002 and then went on to form The Exploding Boy.
