In the beginning nustyrecords aimed to explore the limits of digital sound through critical wave modulation and sound research labs. The duo divided their competences in the following way: Santiago worked mostly on the rhythms while Sergio studied the harmonies and melody. Their first releases belong firmly in the noise category, with compositions developing around tone, pitch and rhythmical phrases in a braid of imperceptible progressions born from empathy and inspiration. Their first releases belong firmly in the noise category, with compositions developing around tone, pitch and rhythmical phrases in a braid of imperceptible progressions born from empathy and inspiration. Some names that inspired the nustyrecords duo along their intuitive composition path: Steve Reich, Aphex Twin, Pansonic, Alva Noto, Cage and many others amongst the main electronic geniuses of the past fifty years. During 2005 nustyrecords started publishing sound pieces on the independent web based label Fehlton, and also travelled to Munich to participate in the label's opening party. 2006 was mostly dedicated to spontaneous appearances in public spaces such as trains, restaurants and libraries, capturing the surrounding sound and improvising interactive performances with the people.
