He played their songs consistently on his radio show “Dark Matter”, broadcast on Los Angeles' Indie 103.1. The band also performed on-air in the Indie studio. While playing shows in support of the EP, Echoes de Luxe were already hard at work writing new material. Eager to show off their new songs, the band set about recording their next release.
With no money for a recording budget, they decided to go a different route: they would make the music for free and make it available to their fans for free. Using their knowledge gained from years of working with 4-track cassette recorders and digital workstations, they began recording everything in their downtown LA rehearsal studio in November of ‘09. Tracking became a comical disaster as the band would need to frantically record sessions when neighboring bands weren't rehearsing. By using only a handful of inexpensive microphones, a stock Pro Tools system, and no rented gear of any kind, they had all 7 songs recorded and mixed by the middle of February.
It was as “bare bones” a recording process as can be imagined, with the goal being to make the most polished and professional-sounding recordings as possible. Dubbed ‘The NotreMonde Demos’, they released them for free download on February 23, 2010. The title, meaning "our world", reflects the band's collective philosophy. They want it to be an encouragement to take a closer look at the world we live in. By doing so hopefully we can see through the disorder and chaos and discover what matters to us all on a personal and global level.
