Dipsomaniacs

There are two bands with the name Dipsomaniacs: 1. The Dipsomaniacs are from NJ and play melodic, hook-driven, sloppy, but spirited rock n roll. The Replacements have always been a decent reference point for the band's sound - power-pop with a heavy influence of 60s garage rock and the simplicity and directness of punk. The Dipsos love the Who and that shows too. They've been around since the mid 90s and have released 5 CDs and appeared on countless compilations while playing shows all over the country. There were a Norwegian band called Dipsomaniacs. They were formed in 1997 in Trondheim by singer and guitarist Øyvind Holm. The other members of the band were Robert Skjærvik (bass), Arve Gulbrandsen (drums) and Thomas Henriksen (keyboards). They have released five records; Bumble-Bee Eyes 1997, Reverb No Hollowness 1998, Braid Of Knees 1999, Stethoscopic Notion 2001, and finally their swansong Praying Winter in 2003.

They disbanded the same year. The Dipsomaniacs music sounds like classic pop with psychedelic elements. Holms nasal vocal style gives the music a 60's pop-feeling. Holm has since released a solo record, The Vanishing Act in 2005.

He later started a new band, Deleted Waveform Gatherings in 2006. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
