An electronic, deep house project based out of Detroit, Michigan. 1. Zoetic is the current project of vocal artist Dréa Drury, based out of the pristine wilderness of British Columbia, Canada since 2003. Her style fluctuates between ethereal vocal landscapes, ambient sonic explorations, and progressive rock.
The enveloping nature of her voice has evolved from a self nurtured exploration - born from an intimate connection to the landscape that raised her, to an incredible tool of divine expression. Drawn by the precision and beauty of North Indian Classical music, at the age of 22, Dréa began studying with Ali Akbar Khan at the College of Classical Indian music in San Rafael. From then on, her passion for sacred and shamanic sound healing led her to study with some of the continent's most renowned teachers such as Silvia Nakkach (Yoga of the Voice) and Tom Kenyon. She now describes her music as being a vessel for gratitude, one of sonic meditation and contemplation.
"Everything in our known universe is composed of vibration. If we take into consideration that our own bodies, physical and otherwise, are also vibration, we will understand the realities at play when we experience sound. We can begin to understand that, when we hear a single note, we are not only “hearing” the note, but physically and energetically “transforming” into the sound itself through the principles of resonance and entrainment. " - Zoetic 2.
Zoetic is the latest incarnation of Detroit native, producer, & musician John Briggs. The definition of Zoetic ("living" or "resemblance of life") seemed appropriate, as it's an amalgamation of his love of music. As Zoetic, John brings to fruition an inspiring production of eclectic electronic music rooted in Jazz/funk encompassing significant elements of other genres. His deliberate side step of trends was John's vision of Zoetic. In his words, "Exploring other dimensions and possibilities of dance music is Zoetic's ambition".
John's collaborations with Detroit's most talented musicians/DJ's has perpetuated this ideology and contributed to the creation of Zoetic's engaging compositions. Meshing all aspects of electronic music, John's mantra for Zoetic is "dance to it, chill to it, make love to it". Read more on Last.fm.
