Zimmermans Note

Zimmermans Note began as Mich Ximmerman's solo project, creating electronic music and video game music remixes. Around 2000, Ximmerman teamed up with singer/rapper Chris Tocke to perform live at Martinez banquet Hall. They began recording cassete-tape anthems "Soundcheck" and "Emo Christmas" which were subsequently passed out to friends and played at Barney's Coffee. Shortly thereafter, drummer Jeremy McGrath joined the group, and they began performing as a trio.

Around the same time, Jeremy also joined the band Fragile. Fragile's singer Nick Garcia became friends with Ximmerman, Tocke and McGrath, and began playing bass and guitar on some of their songs. After deciding to become the band's full-time bassist, the group also added guitarist Dereck Blackburn. The band subsequently had a "final show", which was quickly followed by a reunion and a string of shows riddled with destroyed objects.

In 2002, the band culled videotape recordings of the group into a live CD, Zimmermans Note Live in Key City. Between 2002 and 2003, the group recorded studio renditions of their songs with Jason Sippel and Chey Hasemeyer. The resultant Zimmermans Note disc was the third release on Quiethouse Collective in 2003 (following fragile's all about the grass in july and Live from Key City). The band continued to play a variety of venues ranging from Ting Garden to the Congress Theater until they disbanded in 2004.

They reunited for a variety of one-off shows throughout 2004 and 2005, including a Christmas Day venue with CUNTPUPPET. Mich Zimmerman now works with numbers. He is currently working on manipulating frequencies to record music in just intonation. Jeremy McGrath has become ye olden soundsmith within the group POUNDCAKE Chris Tocke makes solo records as (a)udio (E)rotica. Nick is now recording solo (hermit) albums as nikku neko. Dereck continues to record as Lostwars. Read more on Last.fm.
