Your Black Star

Fusing a frighteningly unshakable rhythm section with effects heavy post-apocalyptic guitar madness, Louisville, Kentucky's Your Black Star are taking delay soaked guitar rock back to it's early 1980's roots, while still moving forward both sonically and structurally. Following the addition of bassist Kevin Ratterman (formerly of Elliott) in 2003, Your Black Star battened down the hatches and focused in on their true calling on their recent full length Sound From The Ground. The band was formed in winter 2001 by Jeremy Johnson and Andrew Osborn, and since then have managed to release two developmental discs, an ep and the aforementioned full length as well as playing hundreds of shows worldwide. Currently, they are looking for a US label to release their recently completed album, which was released in July 2005 on Waver-Waver Records in Japan, Building Records in Australia and in September on TV Records in the UK.

In early 2005, Ratterman left the group to pursue his recording and drumming ambitions, and YBS recruited Brandon Duggins for bass duties and just in time. 2005 has indeed proved a busy year for the group who played a packed showcase at this year's South By Southwest festival; followed by a few key US dates which included shows with VHS or BETA, Electric 6 and Karate; and finally embarked on a massive world tour that kept them abroad for over two months with tours in Japan with Drum:kan, Australia with Horsell Common, New Zealand with This Night Creeps, and the UK including England and Scotland with the New Pornographers. Currently the group is featured on Giant Magazines online jukebox, and is receiving spot plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 including multiple spins on Steve Lamaq and Bruce Dickinson, as well as Kerrang Radio and XFM. SFTG has been received well in the UK and the album has been showered in excellent reviews with several of its songs in rotation on many key regional UK stations.
