YOLANDA's popularity in Vermont led to Roger's move to NYC. YOLANDA's NYC venues included CBGB's, The Cutting Room, Webster Hall, The Pyramid, The Limelight, and Wigstock. From 1997-1999 Yolanda's music garnered very good critical attention especially from Larry Flick of Billboard Magazine. Flick called him the "...best unsigned artist of 1999". YOLANDA's band The Plastic Family originated in Vermont during his collaboration with a jazz fusion trio called Dig Three-led by keyboardist Adam Wood.
