"Xylitol is a one-man sound laboratory from London. On his recent mini-album ‘Functionary’ he welds post-punk/NDW electronic sensibilities with echoes of public-service soundtracks and Brutalist dancefloors." (plan b magazine) South-East Kent based minimal synth / electronic pop artist. Early member of They Came From The Stars (I Saw Them) AKA Jim Backhaus, DJ at Kosmische club, London's long-running Krautrock disco (11 years and counting) Xylitol's first album 'Functionary' influenced by Der Plan, Delia Derbyshire, DAF, Felix Kubin, Holger Hiller, Nocturnal Emissions, Rufige Kru, EDP synthesizers, Fruityloops and Peter Quistgard. Second album 'Molten Genetics' was to be an imaginary Afro-Electropop-Hi Life meets no-fi cold wave soundclash with polymorphously peverse lyrical content. It didn't happen that way. Second album 'Error Bursts In Transmissions' was a bit of a mishmash. You can download it for free via bandcamp. Third and Fourth albums saw Xylitol classics and works-in-progress remixed / finished off by a small coterie of friends, including Belbury Poly (Ghost Box), Woebot, Sculpture, Ommm (Exotic Pylon), Nochexxx, Pete UM, Nocturnal Emissions, Radio 9, The Asterism (Mark O.

Pilkington of Strange Attractor / Mirage Men fame), Kek-W (Hacker Farm) and many others. You Tube hit 'Ghost Office' was released in 2012 on a split 7" with the mysterious Libbe Matz Gang via Libertatia Overseas Trading. 'Kunst Ist Tot', a caustic homage to early DAF that sounds like Front 242 rehearsing in a biscuit tin, has been released on in October 2013 on 7" single by filmmaker Peter Strickland (Berberian Sound Studio, Katalin Varga) on his own Peripheral Conserve record label. It also contains 3 new Xylitol tracks. Xylitol is currently artist in residence on board the LV21 Light Vessel in Gillingham, creating new, site-specific pieces for radio broadcast on and around the ship and elsewhere.
