That was when they met Jones, and Workshy was born. In June 1987, they signed to UK-based Magnet Records which was distributed through WEA, and their debut album, The Golden Mile was released in 1989. The album did not attract great attention back home, but it became a hit in Japan. Later albums were only released in Japan. In a sense, they have very much in parallel with Swing Out Sister (also a duo that started out briefly as a trio, and with whom they also share a strikingly similar musical style) whose most loyal fan base for years has been in Japan and other countries in the Far East region. adapted from source: http://www.homdrum.net/workshy/biography.html Discography (studio albums/compilations): The Golden Mile (WEA, 1989) Ocean (Pony Canyon (JPN), 1992) Heaven (Pony Canyon, 1993) Soul Love (Pony Canyon, 1994) Under The Workshy Influence (Pony Canyon, 1995) Coast (Pony Canyon, 1996) Allure (Pony Canyon, 1998) Clear (Portazul, 2000) Mood (Columbia, 2002) Unforgettable Collection (Pony Canyon (Korea), 2005) Smile Again (Imperial Records (JPN), 2007) McDermott and Jones also co-produced the tribute project, Free 'n' Easy: The Songs of Burt Bacharach (1998) which features 14 standards from the songwriting team of Burt Bacharach & Hal David.
