King’s with The Will Tucker Band, which includes Memphis musicians Joe Boogie (keyboard), Randy Middleton (bass) and Pete Mendillo (drums). Tucker was discovered in the summer of 2008 by B.B. King’s owner Tommy Peters, who refers to him as “a 15-year-old guitar prodigy that exploded onto the Memphis music scene.” After asking Tucker to make guest appearances at events in Memphis and Orlando, Peters secured Tucker a weekend gig at the B.B. King’s flagship location in Memphis. Since Peters’ discovery, Tucker has had the opportunity to perform with Charlie Musselwhite, G.
Love & Special Sauce, Tony Coleman (B.B. King’s own drummer), and the Beach Boys with John Stamos. Tucker has also opened three times for the legendary B.B. King during his performances in Memphis and shares his drummer with music icon Jimi Jamison.
Although only 16, Tucker is no stranger to the blues. He was raised in Memphis and has been a fan of blues and southern rock from the get go. Tucker was 5 when he started playing the drums, 8 when he started playing piano and 12 when he picked up his first guitar. His mother and manager, Laurie Tucker, is still amazed at her son’s love of the blues.
“He has old blues albums that are barely audible, but that doesn’t stop him from recreating the songs and making them his own,” says Tucker. “He never loses the passion and soul of the song, which is what makes the blues such a captivating and unique genre of music.” Tucker’s CD is available online at iTunes, Amazon.com or www.willtuckermusic.com.
