Now, 18 years old, Will Effe has accumulated countless verses, songs, and skits for his upcoming mixtape, “Do Well”. I’ve personally got the chance to hear a few songs from the tape acapella and I must say, NO ONE should be disappointed. There’s a little something for everyone. However, if you happen to become one of the poor saps who will choose to hate or not vibe to it, hey, no one’s loss but your own.
December 1, 2010, Will Effe released a song from the mixtape titled “Northern Lights” featuring his also exceptionally talented and close friend, Blanco, and M-Ber. The song is indeed a teaser from what’s to be expected from the tape. Rhyming over the beat from ”Car Service”; a song featured on the popular mixtape “How Fly”, a collaborative work by Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y, the indulgent song is filled with laid back and pleasurable lyrics and concludes with a comedic skit featuring the first two rappers and one of the producers to end the song. All of the featured artists, excluding M-Ber, are all integral members of “The Varsity”.
Not to be confused with a “rap group”, more so a team consisting of gifted and aspiring rappers, singers, and future producers, who are all featured on the tape. Talking to Will, I’ve realized that he encompasses a deep passion for music that nowadays, a lot of rappers lack. The mixtape is set to be dropped in late January 2011. Being a witness to all the accomplishments Will has achieved, all the opposition he has overcome, and all of the dreams he is still working his ass off towards reaching, I have no doubt that “Do Well” will be a success.
