Whispers For Warning

Whispers for Warning, with their energetic stage presence and explosive emocore performance, have come a long way since their first appearance at the Wellington regional SmokefreeRockquest in 2005 where they qualified as regional finalists as Live and Let Die. Dylan Sweetensen, frontman, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter, had invited fellow Wellington High School 5th formers, Troy Leamy, a very talented drummer, and Jakob Wollner, an expert bass player, to form a band with him only three months earlier. In just over two years Whispers for Warning have come a long way. Prolific songwriters, the tight trio have produced three cds, including Russian Roulette, A List Of Things I Want Back and The Mourning Massacre. Tireless performers they have played at numerous gigs in Wellington and Kapiti, sharing the stage with high profile bands such as The Rabble, My Life Story, False Start, Cold By Winter and Autozamm.

Late in 2006 they went on two North Island road trips, performing at venues in Wanganui and New Plymouth as well as Hamilton and Auckland. To top it all, last year, in May 2006, as Year 12 entrants, they won the Regional Finals of the Wellington SmokefreeRockquest, with Dylan also winning the Best Vocals Award. Whispers for Warning never fail to draw an enthusiastic audience most of whom are so passionate about the band and their music that they follow them from gig to gig. They have created a new breed of music which is paradoxically dark and energetic. In early 2007 two new guitarists, Donnie Cuzens and Robbie McGuinness, joined the band bringing added intensity to an already powerful sound. All are totally committed musicians and are determined to make it to the top. They broke up in early 2008.
