We Are Rockstars
g. The Trousers, Kollaps), while keyboardist Tamás Szijártó, bringing a more electro sound to the guitar rock, came from Newgatti. Their debut album, Let it Beat came out in November 2011. Their songs mix the synthpop of the ’80s and the modern electronic rock, while at the same time if we listen carefully, we can also find traces of the ’60s beat music.
They did not only win over the fans with this album but also gained professional recognition as they were nominated for a Fonogram Award in the category of Best Hungarian Modern Pop-Rock Album. The two singles from the album, Lift Me Up and The Day Hits The Night were #1s on MR2 Petőfi’s Top 30 list, while the title track was used as background music for an international beverage company’s commercial. After all this, the best was yet to come for the Rockstars. In November 2013, they published a new record full of radio-friendly songs titled Second, including four tracks in Hungarian. Of these, Én leszek minden was used as the tune for VIVA’s promo. In the last couple of years, they gave successful concerts at all the major Hungarian festivals and clubs.
We could see them on the main stage of VOLT, at Sziget and at Strand Festival but they also rocked the stages of A38, Akvárium and Park on a regular basis. In 2014, they also entered the talent show called Nagy-Szín-Pad and proved that they are easily just as good as any of the "great bands”. There is no rest for We Are Rockstars at the end of the year either. In November, besides being the supporting act for both The Boxer Rebellion and at the end of the month, for Klaxons, the band is coming up with a brand new single (and a video clip) titled Ő vagy én (Hungarian version of Love & Hate).
