Every gig has to be a party! July 18th 2008 Wax ‘n’ Wane made its debut at the Affaire Festival in hometown Nijmegen. The band succeeded in fulfilling its mission. A massive crowd came to see the band. That night the band members proved they can get people dancing.

Just a month before this successful performance Italian label Total Wipes approached the band. However, both parties couldn't agree about the contract. Experienced Vocalist Mary Anne en guitar player Joz have been playing in 9 Days’ Wonder? from 1999 ‘till 2004. This breakbeat band did play with celebrities like Lamb in Paradiso, Amsterdam, and with Kosheen in venue 013, Tilburg. Drummer Peat played in wellknown Dutch rockbands, but started to take interest in house and breakbeat.

He saw 9 Days’ Wonder? playing and contacted the former members later. They felt the vibe immediately. Wax ‘n’ Wane was born. Six months later DJ Reemster joined the band. Hot and unique Wax ‘n’ Wane is all about contraries: real musicians and sequencers, tight and loose.

The sound of the band is characterised by deep synth basses, live breakbeats and James Bond alike guitars. The female vocals do catch your attention: often catchy, then again weird. People often compare Mary Anne’s voice with wayword singers like Roisin Murphy and Alison Goldfrapp. Like some American fans wrote: ‘sexy and seductive, hot and unique.’ Read more on Last.fm.
