By taking three decades of pure soul and funk and intertwining it like a DNA geneticist, with Euro trip-hop, rock, jazz and even elements of reggae, retro-nouveau style, with a 60’s psychedelic edge, Wade3 breaks new barriers with a style that’s been called by many as “the Nu sound in soul”. Wade3’s debut album, “Dreams”, (Starr Child Music) sets a new music standard by successfully splicing not only music genres, but generations as well. With “Dreams”, Wade3 paints impressionist pictures of the experiences of life, love, and accurately describes a flawed political system with vivid colors, broad textures, and subtle hues. Just think James Brown meets Jim Morrison and Sly Stone, with a strong Radiohead and Massive Attack influence, with a Police music change of pace.
Based in both Raleigh and Los Angeles, the vocalist/musician/producer, and composer boasts an impressive and diverse music resume, working such legends, from Ray Manzerek (The Doors) to Chaka Khan. Once signed to Herbie Hancock’s Transparent Records, Wade3 composed the score for the movie “Road Kings”, (starring Glenn Plummer) and also scored “Beyond Tough”, a TV show featured on The Learning Channel, which starred Ice-T. He also has songs featured in Kissing Jessica Stein, and the Michael Myers film The Love Guru. Wade3 is a founding member of the Dakah Hip-Hop Orchestra, a band that has garnered international critical acclaim.
