Vladimir Fainer was born in 1966 in Kharkov, Ukraine. He studied music on his own, from the beginning showing interest in ancient and classical music. At the age of sixteen he began attending Orthodox church services and was baptized. Graduated from the Kharkov music college in 1988, majoring in trumpet. Later played brass and keyboard instruments, as well as doing some sound recording and computer processing of soundtracks, but his favorite thing was studying ancient scores and musical-theoretical sources. First compositions appeared in 1994 under a pseudonym. In 1994 - 1997 he cooperated with chorus of the St.Ilia church in Krasnodar. In 2005 got to know the choir of the Pokrovskiy monastery in Kharkov. Precentor Anna Stsheglova was attracted to his work, and since then repertoire of the chorus includes practically all of his compositions. The result of the cooperation was published on three compact discs, some of it can be found at composer's site http://fainer.com.ua/. He published his theoretical articles in the "Precentor work" magazine http://www.regentskoedelo.org/. His compositions enjoy wide acclaim and they are performed through many temples of Ukraine, Russia and Byelorussia. The "ginger" of the stylistic approach which has appeared as a result of long-term immersing in the world of ancient music is the combination of Greek Slavic melodiousness and structure of European polyphonic schools. The polyphony opens to the listener, as sincere, intimate speech transmitting ascetically - accurate, sober-minded veneration for the Sacrament.
