Valentina Fel

Valentina Fels music is an addictive blend of electro, rock, dub, hip hop and flamenco, yet she can not be relegated to any of those classifications. She is truly an original voice - equally comfortable riding the rhythms as a ferocious emcee, a haunting singer, or an animated comic.. The unique music-bed for Valentinas self-titled debut album, is provided courtesy of innovative up-and-coming producer Erasmo Parra. The dancehall-ready beats are fresh and infectious, but make no mistake about these tunes carry a message. Read more on Last.fm
Hailing from Santiago, Chile, Valentina was raised in the arts and graduated from the prestigious and demanding La Mancha International School of Image and Gesture, where she trained in voice, acting, and movement -- all of which are artistically integrated into her live performance.

A stunning Latina beauty, Valentina programs her own projector light show (featuring her original artwork) and choreographs modern dance with flashes of flamenco. Her lyrical content ranges from the earthly immediate (EMERGENCIA “Solo tu inercia es decadencia marcando sentencia la Guerra al venir” translates to “Only your inertia is your decadance, marking a sentence that the war is coming.”) to the digitally absurd (SIN CONTROL MI DIVERSION “Maquina many! Tu Matrix! Tu Matrix!” translates to “Many machines! Your Matrix! Your Matrix!”). The vocal delivery can be dark and chilling in one moment, yet playful and animated in the next. Valentina flips the roles of apocalyptic harbinger and court jester with ease. Valentina first caught a spark in her native Chile, when in 2007 she won the New Sounds award (organized by tastemaking website/radio show Super 45).

That same year Rolling Stone magazine (Chile) named her the Best Soloist of the Year. More awards and critical acclaim quickly followed, and Valentinas reach began expanding beyond South American borders. Her recordings landed at Lizard King Records (Santigold, The Pierces), where the originality and potential were immediately recognized. It was not long before Valentina boarded a flight to New York City to embark on her worldwide artistic mission. Valentina had not been in NYC for a full week when she was invited to share the bill with Public Enemys Chuck D and Mark Ronson protg, Wale, for an Internet Week event at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Annex.

Her live performance captivated a discerning crowd of music industry professionals. The next night she won over an audience of skeptical metalheads and black-clad hipsters at the NYC rock haunt, Don Hills. Valentinas track “Circo Podrido” (aka Rotten Circus) was recently featured as the Music Alliance Pacts Chilean representative of the month. Critical praise has been unanimous: SUPER 45 “"Full of aggressive beats, explosive sampling and social protest lyrics, Valentina Fel is the most logical evolution of a riot girl - punk almost in the realm of grime, do-it-yourself attitude with dancehall as a commodity and flamenco-injected defiance. Her long-awaited upcoming debut -to be release in the next few months - promises to be a massive earthquake in the dance floor that nobody could anticipate." CLUB FONOGRAMA “Super45 almost always gets it right with their choices, but this time their choice is not only great, they dropped a bomb on us.” While Valentinas self-titled debut album is scheduled for release in 2010, the singles “Sin Control Mi Diversion,” “Acapulco,” and “Emergencia” are destined to be the sounds of 2009.

She is currently in the studio translating those tracks into English and plotting her global musical revolution. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
