Václav Hudeček began his sharp career rise and earned his place among Czech and international elite performers during the 1960s. While he was still only fifteen, he performed in concert on 12. 11. 1967 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.

One day later he was heard by the legendary David Oistrach, who predicted a brilliant future for him and offered him tuition. Thus, Hudeček was the pupil of this great master from 1970 to Oistrach's death in 1974. Since his debut in London, this virtuoso has performed all over the world in the most prestigious venues (Carnegie Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Suntory Hall, Osaka Festival Hall, Sydney Opera), with leading world orchestras (Berliner Philharmoniker, Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, NHK Philharmonic Orchestra, Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Moscow State Philharmonic etc.), and also at international festivals (Osaka, Salzburg, Istanbul, Perth, Helsinki). He continues to respect the legacy of David Oistrach and other great names of the Russian violin school, and is dedicated to his work with bearers of the traditions of Oistrach, Kogan and Sitkovetzky, as illustrated in his recordings for Supraphon. Hudeček's relaxed appearances and his style of playing, in particular, combining sovereign technique, a vital and expressive, rich tone and a joy he readily conveys to his public, enchant audiences right across the age spectrum.

His recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons with conductor Pavel Kogan from 1992 is still the most popular in the Czech Republic, for which he received a Gold Disc and, in 1997, also a Platinum Disc. He has also won Gold Discs for other recordings. Apart from his performances of works by the old masters, Václav Hudeček has also broadened his repertoire to include 20th century works (Janáček, Prokofiev) and pieces by contemporary Czech composers (Kymlička, Fišer, Mácha). He is eager to help the coming generation of Czech violinists by both organising violin courses in Luhačovice every summer and presenting the best participants at his own concerts, either during his traditional Christmas tours or at music festivals he organises in Prague.
