The group is made up of Emily Keefauver (vocals and keys) and Matt Stuttler (guitar), with a rotating cast of friends providing back up instrumentation. Their sound is influenced by early 60s and 70s rock and roll and modern indie and folk music. The Kerouacs changed their name to "Burrowss" upon moving to St. Louis in summer 2011, where they released a new album "Don't Take It Slow" (burrowss.bandcamp.com).
2. The Kerouacs were a motley crew of college rockers from Columbia, South Carolina. Melding the streamlined indie angst of The Pixies, the down-to-earth indie pop of 764-HERO and the unabashed grunge of Smashing Pumpkins, The Kerouacs created brand of heavy indie rock that was as powerful as it was poetic. They split up in 2003, and played their last show in 2004. Singer-guitarist Patrick Wall played in the indie duo Blinded By Underpants with Kerouacs drummer Rob Upfield until 2006, when Rob moved to Atlanta.
Patrick now plays drums for louder-than-thou indie power-trio Alaska the Tiger. Lead guitarist Jeff Crews now plays guitar and keys for up-and-coming Columbia alt-country quintet American Gun. Bassist Jen Autrey has disappeared into the ether. Anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
