After a successful year and a half and after releasing their first full length LP “Room to Groove”, Andrew and Adam decided to move the band to Melbourne in 2006 and thus parted ways with the great Kenny Thompson. Now residing in the Australian music capital of Melbourne, the band has re-spawned as “The JiveCrank” - a 5-piece Hammond Combo playing a much more “edgy, raw and organic style of deep funk and jazz”. The JiveCrank line-up now includes accomplished Australian players - Jeremy Diffey on Sax, Eric Budd on Trumpet and Trombone, and Fabio Giorgio on Drums. The JiveCrank sound draws it’s influence and inspiration from the emerging groove sounds promoted by bands such as Soulive, Galactic, Lettuce, The Greyboy All-stars and local deep funk success story; The Bamboos. Combine this with the funk and soul vibes delivered by artists such as Jimmy Smith, Jamiroquai, Jurassic 5, George Clinton, James Brown, Erykah Badu, Maceo Parker, The New Mastersounds, Grant Green, Roy Hargrove, D’angelo and many others - and you have a funk groove that even those who don’t dance can’t ignore. The JiveCrank has performed over a hundred shows in Melbourne over the past 16 months, earning them a reputation as pioneers, leaders and more importantly…great performers and entertainers amongst Melbourne’s rich underground funk and jazz scenes.
