Based on Folk-, Grunge-, Rock’n’Roll- und Crossover music. Its that little bit of everything, producing the specific sound of The Folks. In early 2007, Jonathan Drechsel (leadgt) and Leon Ostrowski (vc/gt) start playing the guitar and singing together at a party on a cozy kitchen session. They harmonize well, so from now on they decided to call themselves a band. The Folks were born.
Coming up was intensive songwriting, followed by a slog through the local scene as well as a demo tape of A March On the Borderline. In 2008, The Folks compete against about 1000 other bands at the Coca-Cola Soundwave Discovery Tour , they become finalists. The Folks play at Germanys biggest Rockfestival Rock am Ring. Then, just after graduating from high shool, the Band performs at some other big festivals: Hurricane.
Highfield. Area 4. And a lot more. Also in 2008, The Folks record their first album at Lofthausstudios in Darmsadt. It's called ONE.
The release powered by their label Soundworks is announced for May 2009. On October 3rd, Germanys national holiday, The Folks performed in front of 200.000 people at the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin. The guys loved the city and relocated into Germanys biggest cultural metropolis. With drummer Christopher Birkigt and Maurice Stenzel on the bass, who they both met in Berlin, Leon and Jonathan found exactly the right people for the rhythm section of The Folks. 2009 will be the year of The Folks.
