In December 2010 the band announced on their myspace they were on an indefinite hiatus. Founder and main songwriter David Young is forming a new Anglo-Swedish indiepop project, working on new songs with Candy Twins' bassist Mat Durrance and Swedish singer Maria Caroli. The Candy Twins' download single A Younger Crowd was one of the Sun's Hot Tracks Of The Week in March 2008 with a 4/5 rating - 'seriously addictive' said the world's biggest-selling English-language newspaper. Other notable tracks include Edwyn Collins Is Back which tells the story of the former Orange Juice frontman's fight back to health after near death - and Collins himself described it as 'fantastic ...

beautiful ... unbelievable.' Their sound has been compared to The Wedding Present, Paul Weller, This Poison!, Edsel Auctioneer, Decoration, and Billy Bragg amongst others. Sounds XP described it as 'prime time 80s jangly indiepop.' In 2008 The Candy Twins appeared at the Indietracks festival along with The Wedding Present, Los Campesinos!, Ballboy and others. They toured Germany in 2008 and 2009.
