1.) Folk/Rock/Americana band from Maine. 2.) Extremely aggressive haterock featuring members of several top American RAC bands. Vocalist is for example also a member of white wash. 1.) For a bunch of guys from Maine with a goofy name, the Boneheads are making a pretty big impression on the music world. Their records have consistently been praised by major publications such as Album Network, CMJ, and Relix, and major market dailies including The Washington Post and The Boston Herald. The Boneheads were finalists in WBOS Bostons 1994 Acoustic Underground competition, and were featured on 127 NPR radio stations on the syndicated Mountain Stage radio show in April of 1995. Having toured amny of the finest live music rooms on both the East Coast and the Mountain region, the band has become famous for their unpredictable, impressively musical shows, which often feature band members switching instruments, powerfully dynamic arrangements, and occasionally even hilarious polka versions of their favorite tunes. The Boneheads have shared the stage with Rosanne Cash, The Band, Bo Diddley, the Subdudes, the Radiators, to name a few. The groups unique blend of roots music includes folk, rock, blues, country, Cajun, and soul, and has drawn them comparisons the The Band, Van Morrison, Little Feat, and the Subdudes.

The Daily Hampshire Gazette wrote: "e;A splended Maine group with the refreshingly scruffy folk-rock flavorings of The Band and the country side of Van Morrison."e; Of their live show the Botson Herald said: "They sand like The Band, played like backwoods world-beaters, and offered the nights best laugh with a brilliant polka version of Purple Haze." The Boneheads are based in southern Maine and feature Portlands premiere session players and former members of many of Maines finest acts. Formed in 1991, they released their first recording on their own label River Records that same year. The bands second release, Cranium, also on River Records, was the bands first exposure to most of the country. The record garnered a surprising amount of AAA airplay for a relatively unknown band and label.

Theur third release, Donkey, was released by River Records in late 1994 and licensed for worldwide distribution in 1995 by the New York based independant label 1-800-PRIME-CD. To date the band has sold in excess of 5000 units of their self released titles. The BONEHEADS are a thoroughly danceable, dynamic, fun and talented Rock and Roll band in the purest sense. Real instruments played with real feelings; real music. The Heads have a full complement of original material in addition to an extensive playlist of covers.

Their music is described as rootsy, all-American, it rocks and it's acoustic. A band of honest musicians doing what they love. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
