The Bard of Ely was born and bred in Cardiff, Wales but he moved to Tenerife at the end of 2004. He is an eclectic singer-songwriter, poet and freelance writer, a unique performer and very much a bard! The Bard of Ely was compere for the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2002 and 2003 and he appeared in the same role and as a performer at the Green Man festival in 2003 and was booked again for the following year. The Bard of Ely was compere for the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2002 and 2003 and he appeared in the same role and as a performer at the Green Man festival in 2003 and was booked again for the following year. He has also played at Glastonbury on several occasions, as well as being a guest speaker there in 2004. The Bard has had his songs released on several labels with the most notable being his You're a Liar, Nicky Wire and Harvest Home, which were on the Taffia EP on Crai Records and he has two tracks on the Green Man Festival CD on Double Snazzy.

A limited edition coloured vinyl EP with the title MASK was released by the German Pink Lemon Records, and a vinyl LP Sound of One came out on Very Good Records from the same country. Bard of Ely has his songs available online on soundclick.com, artistlaunch.com, mp3.com.au, and at Myspace of course, as well as many other OMDs. You're a Liar, Nicky Wire was rave reviewed in the NME singles page and Bard of Ely's songs have also been used on TV programs including his Rubber Ducky on Y Ty on S4C and Sound of One on Family Affairs on C5. The Bard appeared on The Slate on BBC Wales once singing King Arthur's Coming. He also co-presented two series if In Full View on Choice and has had many more TV appearances, including being regressed on HTV Wales' Weird Wales. Bard of Ely, under his real name of Steve Andrews, has had his writings published in Big Issue Cymru, Permaculture magazine, Living Tenerife, the Tenerife Sun and Tenerife News and he is also the author of Herbs of the Northern Shaman (Loompanics) and a forthcoming poetry and lyrics book - The Bard Word.

Herbs of the Northern Shaman is being republished on Lulu. Bard of Ely is written about in books by CJ Stone - in Fierce Dancing (Faber) and Last of the Hippies (Faber), in Peter Finch's Real Cardiff (Seren), in The Trials of Arthur (Element) by Christopher James Stone and Arthur Pendragon, and in The World's Most Mysterious People (Hounslow) by Lionel and Patricia Fanthorpe.
