Since "Encounter with..." album ('98,Sublime ), he burst onto the club scene as the maverick solo project "CAPTAIN FUNK". "Captain Funk will make you believe!" was the Ministry of Sound magazine’s opinion, while Time Out mag described his music as a "Vibrant delight!". Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook, describes his record as "F***ing insane!" and demands extra copies. The Fatboy’s not alone however, as Tatsuya has earned the praise and respect of international DJs from across the board such as Cold Cut, Si Begg, Freddy Fresh, Ken Ishii and Carl Cox for his unashamedly infectious party groove. He released successful singles,Mix CD,and albums including "Bustin' Loose EP" , "Dancing in the Street","Style" etc. Especially "Songs of the Siren" was selected as one of "The Year in Music 2001" of the Billboard Magazine. He played at many big events in Japan like Fuji Rock Festival, and overseas like Global-Tekno ,Saint-Nolff ( france ) ,West Night Club ( Germany ),Turnmills ( UK ),Zouk( Singapore ) etc. Chapter 2 - OE - Since 2002's "Here and You", he started another solo project simply under the name "OE", which is more cutting-edge and introspective.
After the collaboration with Yoshihide Otomo " ONJQ + OE “ , his most experimental album “Physical Fiction" ,he dropped his second album under the "Oe" banner, "Director's Cut" ('04). During OE's era,he did an opening act for Kraftwerk , Holger Czukay, and David Bowie ( as Groove Syndicate,his another project ) in Japan. He formed a band and did gigs, playing guitars and singing, synchronized with CG films. Chapter 3 - 2nd stage of CF / Model Electronic - After 2005 he toured with Space Cowboy in Japan as Captain Funk, he began DJ energetically again. And in 2006 he launched his own company Model Electronic Inc.
which aims to cover from music label/publishing,digital distribution, to software development. As the start of the company,he released Captain Funk's new albums called "HEAVY METAL" & "HEAVY MELLOW" for the first time in 6 years. These new albums proves that he found a way of fusing together early Captain Funk's uplifting feelings and songwriting skills.Tracks as represented by "Hey Boy, Hey Girl" became popular not only in Japan but also overseas, such as myspace,shops and parties including "Club Sandwich" in Paris. In November 2008, he launched direct webshop based on membership, called "Club Model Electronic".Through this first worldwide digital disribution service in Japan, he started full-fledged business in his company. Needless to say music, he is so familiar with art, computer and fashion that he had collaborated with many people in broad areas. He has remixed and collaborated with almost 200 musicians,creative directors, fashion brands including James Brown, Ron Sexsmith, Serge Gainsbourg, HOTEI, CHIC, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Freddy Fresh, Puffy, Tsuchiya Anna, Ken Ishii, Co-fusion, Denki Groove, Tommy February 6, Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden, Nick Wood & Simon Lebon, Noriyuki Tanaka, SABU ( "Monday" ), SuperLovers, Final Home, G-STAR, Cartier, Vivienne Westwood etc. Panasonic Viera's global branding website "Experience Color",winner of "The Finalist Award" in New York Festivals & "Silver Prize" in TIAA in 2007.
