The new edition of the Swiss legend of the “Rütli Oath”: Four DJs and producers, connected by a long-lasting friendship that was forged in the gravitational field of everything concerned with music and music production, vow to join forces; and to unify and unleash their creativity – focused in the form of the democratic institution and entity that is TALEN. The project name „TALEN“ was chosen to evoke a wide range of associations. It is said that the name of Swiss iconic figure (William) Tell has its root in the word „talen“ (which used to mean „child-like/naive“ in an old dialect). Swiss timing and precision and Swiss craftmanship are called into mind.

But also words like „to tell“ or „tale“ or „talent“ seem to lurk around the next linguistic corner, as does „Tal“, the German noun for „valley“._The music made by TALEN is defined rather by a process than by an aim or a given format and sound, using analogue instruments and toys to produce an arsenal of soundbytes, to later attack and deconstruct the very same in the digital domain. The outset is often Rock’n’Roll or Noise, the result can be anything from Dubstep to Electro, or HipHop, freely oscillating between „listening“ and „club“ music. _The same philosophy is applied to the artwork and sleeve design. TALEN is sitting in the director’s chair – all carefully made in Switzerland.

_But local colour never equals seeking isolation, so TALEN is stepping across (national) borders, and found their MCs in KINGSTON as well as in NEW YORK. Above that, so many remix artists have agreed to put their touch on the TALEN sound, that the quartet is presenting a twin-debut: in the form of the KINGSTON BOOK and the NEW YORK BOOK.When TALEN embarks on a fictional journey, the result is bridging the styles and igniting musical fireworks in the head of the listeners. It’s a TALEN sound. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
