The intimacy of two voices and a violin performing in perfect alignment was extraordinary. Brinda's voice excelled when she sang in the lower octave, while would sing an octave higher, to great effect. Carnatic music is South India's classical music, and the family into which Brinda and her sisters were born is a major source of the best of this music. Their mother, with the approval of course of their legendary musician grandmother, Veena Dhanammal, sent Brinda and Mukta to study with Kanchipuram 'Naina' Pillai.

They added his repertoire to their family's store. Brinda was a fine teacher at institutions in India and the USA. Her daughter, Vegavahini Vijayaraghavan, carries on the tradition, as do her gifted students, including Chitravina N Ravikiran. See T. Mukta: http://www.last.fm/music/T.+Mukta Read more on Last.fm.
