Slithering Beast

The seeds that have since blossomed into Slithering Beast were first sown in the spring of 2006 by songwriter Nick Dittmeier. Homegrown on the outskirts of Louisville, the songs soon began taking form with clear and simple intent-- to play country music the way it was meant to be played, like our country heroes had in the past. Legends such as Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, and George Jones influenced the tone for the music of Slithering Beast-- raw, aimless and, ultimately, unapologetic. After many acoustic performances throughout summer and fall of 2006, two five-song EPs titled “The Drunk Driving EP” and “Dead Marches” were made available.

The two EPs explored uncharted musical territory for Dittmeier while establishing a steady lineup of musicians, quickly making Slithering Beast’s live show a reality, and a much talked-about one at that. As shows became more frequent in support of their recently constructed full-band sound, old songs were touched up while new ones were consistently introduced. The new lineup came together in preparation for a full-length release to be recorded later that winter. The result is their newest offering, Werewolf Ballads.

Recording sessions at their studio in Georgetown, Indiana rendered an uncompromising honky-tonk/country rock hybrid that is a complete culmination of what the band has achieved thus far, as well as a revelation of what the future very well may hold. The full-length is available through Sophomore Lounge Records, as the band has begun touring and performing live shows locally to introduce fans and strangers alike to their refreshing brand of loud, drunk, and hardworking country music.
