"How Sweet It Is"(The New Georgia Bulldog Anthem) describes the essence of what it means to be a true bulldog fan. Any Dawg fan will relate to this bluesy tune. The first preview track, "Eastbound", is about a lovesick musician who is out on the road and missing his sweetheart. Using I-20 as a backdrop, this sweet country song, dripping with country twang, features John Neff of The Drive-By Truckers on steel guitar.
The second one, "Stars", is a tune about love lost and the keen perspective one gains upon that loss. This moody tune features some haunting fiddle work by former Jerry Reed and Glen Campbell fiddle player David Blackmon. This EP showcases an All-Star line-up of Athens/Atlanta musicians, including David Blackmon(fiddle), Rick Fowler(guitar), Sherry Joyce(backing vocals), John Lee(piano), Chris Miller(guitar, bass), John Neff(steel guitar), John Sousa(bass), Mike Steele(bass), and Tim White(piano, organ). The production team on this record is a notable one as well. The record was recorded in Athens, GA at Rick Fowler Studios(www.rickfowler.com) and John Keane Studios(www.johnkeanestudios.com), and mastered at Rodney Mills Masterhouse(www.rodneymills.com).
All of whom have been associated with such bands as REM, Widespread Panic, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The upcoming full length CD "Bruises and Smiles" contains tunes of love and heartache, good times and bad times, and told only the way Skelly can tell it. Skelly has performed in a variety of musical settings, from jazz to reggae, and these songs are a swirl of all this experience. The CD will be available in 2011 and promises to be a great addition for country and southern rock fans.
