Sixtoys

Sixtoys, a four-piece band from Herselt – Belgium, started playing together in 1998. After a hesitating start they discovered the amazing kick you get from playing live in front of an audience. During the first 3 years they recorded 2 demo’s which gave them the chance to play live all over Belgium with great bands like Skin of tears (Ger), Flatcat, Bambix (Hol), Five days off, Belvedere(Can), Mad Sin (Ger), No Children(Sp) , Against Time (Hol), Silverene, Scarrots, and many many more... In 2003 CRAZE RECORDS, a small label from Paris (France), picked up Sixtoys and recorded a mini-CD with them in the famous studio 195 in Holland. The result was their first real production: COPY, PASTE & REPEAT.

Soon FUNTIME distributions (one of the biggest labels for alternative Belgian music) decided to distribute the Sixtoys CD in the Benelux. After the release party for the copy paste & repeat in november of 2003 things started to go very fast for Sixtoys. They already did about 50 in the year following the release, including some amazing shows in Paris. In the summer of 2004 they toured Europe for about 17 days and played in France, Italy an Austria. An amazing experience. 2005 was a great year for Sixtoys, they played some great shows with great bands like Homer, Dickybird (FR), No Comply (UK), Mistake Us For Friends (SCO) and Satanic Surfers (SWE) 2005 was also a year of change for Sixtoys.

First of all the great Belgian label FUNTIME showed interest to put out a CD together. Release date set in the spring of 2006. Hannelore decided to quit her guitar and singing duties. She felt if she couldn’t give her all 100% she’d give the chance to someone who could.

She is going to do some guest-vocals on the new CD though. So the three remaining sixtoys had to search for another guitarist/backing. Soon they found Jonas, a young, motivated, talented musician and long time fan-of-the-band. So change of the guards… but no time to waste time… …cause 2 months later in December 2005 Sixtoys hit the studio to record their very first official full-CD.

Recorded in the famous Déstudio, and released through Funtime and CRAZE-records (FR). The new CD will carry the tittle ‘FORBIDDEN WAR’. With a FUNTIME-CRAZE release the future looks bright, Sixtoys hope they can keep challenging themselves and hope they can continue to grow as musicians and as people, …, can’t wait to see what the future brings… tbc!
