Duluth nu-grunge band Sirus Minor was formed by Dan Lindquist and Andy Zelman who woke up one day and realized that they each had a gift. Dan found that he could bang on things and create a rhythm for Andy to play his homemade guitar along with. Later, in middle school they each bought their own instruments and formed the instrumental group ‘Institutionalized’. Later, in middle school they each bought their own instruments and formed the instrumental group ‘Institutionalized’. With classic hits like ‘Index 66’ and ‘The Desert’ they were a force to be reckoned with.

But they felt that something was missing. So, with the aid of a mutual friend they found lead singer and lyricist Jay Benson. However, there still was a void to fill. After a series of bass players they settled on Karl Franklin, whose style resembles that of Cliff Burton.

After a series of gigs in local bars and pool halls they struck it big with the cult hit “Sincerely I’m leaving” off their 2001 album “Too FAT too mosh”. However, all good things must come to an end. The band called it quits in 2004, though they remain friends. Read more on Last.fm.
