(standing for Sea, Eugene, and Shoo, the three members). S.E.S. quickly became one of the most popular groups in Korea, helped in part by SM's strong marketing methods. However, Shoo was not as popular as the other two. Unlike Bada ("Sea" in Korean), she did not have a strong, powerful voice, although she was able to harmonize very well.
She also was not able to minimize her vocal shortcomings by becoming the "pretty member", because that spot was taken by Eugene. Because of this, she tried to stand out by becoming the fashionable one, always the first to change her look (or at least, change the most drastically). She has admitted in interviews that she ran out of hairstyles and hair colors to have, because she had so many over the years. After the breakup of S.E.S. in late 2002, Shoo stayed with SM Entertainment unlike the other two members.
She contributed to some more SMTown albums in 2003 and 2004, but this series of compilation albums was temporarily stopped due to the shrinking of SM's roster (by this time, the big groups like H.O.T, S.E.S., 신화, and Fly to the Sky had either broken up or moved labels, and the smaller groups and artists (like 다나) were either merged into other groups or simply gotten rid of). A new SMTown album was released in 2006, but Shoo does not appear on this album, suggesting that she is not currently focussing on a pop career. Instead of releasing solo albums like her former group members, Shoo instead joined musicals. In 2005, she starred in a Korean musical called Batboy which sold over 110,000 tickets in Korean and Japan.
She has since done other musicals, but has not been prominently in the spotlight since her S.E.S. times. However, she has gone on record as saying that a new S.E.S. album is in the works, but only time will tell if that becomes reality.
