Michael Ruin Helmut Prixs Anton Ritter SHARON NEXT was founded by Michael Ruin und Helmut Prixs in a club in Vienna in 1995. Both were playing in different bands. It was their destiny to come together. Ruin und Prixs make music for the same reasons--both loved bands such as "Joy Division", "The Smiths", "The Cure" and electronic music in general.

A week later they started together, as Sharon Next. In 1996 Sharon Next contributed three songs to the sampler "Armatage Shank". A year later, Carlos Peron, artist and und ex-member of the band "Yello" listened to a tape of Sharon Next and was amazed, resulting in recordings at Fort Vox Studios in Basel. Accompanied by Carlos Peron, his friends Lex Pure und Merlin Monroe they produced their debut album.

Sharon Next played at concerts with "l'ame Immortelle", "VNV-Nation" and "Crüxshadows", and many more. The EP "The Forgotten Track", with rare tracks and new versions of already published ones followed. In 2001 Anton Ritter joined the band. Since then he has played lots of gigs and enriches the band's sound with his skills on the guitar.

The second album "Happiness for Hire" came out in June 2003 through Km-music (published by Vegaland). In 2008, a reunion followed, with the addition of a new member, Eric Lontra. "Embrace in Holyhead", was slated for release in November of 2008. They are now working on songs for their new album.
