Their website can be found on www.shark-bait.nl Another band that was named Shark Bait was a San Francisco based industrial/noise/improv 'troupe" of musicians and performance artists. They were one of those "must be seen live" to trully appreciate kind of groups. They used background walls of noise, tape loops, lots and lots of metal percussions and other various percussions, distorted vocals, both male and female. But their main strengths lie in their legendary live performances, complete with light show, projected movies and slides, performance art (usually primal and sexually charged), and about a dozen people on stage, making noise, beating on drums or springs or metal sheets, blowing flames, having sex (lesbian and hetero and anything else), reading poetry...audience participation was encouraged.
it was a full audio-visual experience, musically closely resembling Einstürzende Neubauten but still fresh and original. Their shows , especially with fellow rhythm/noise merchants Crash Worship at places like 924 Gilman and The Omni and the Stone around the SF Bay Area in the early 90's are legendary! (for those who were "there" at these 90's versions of "be ins" and "happenings") Drug use was rampant, and encouraged (especially psychedelic drugs like LSD). The band was known to pass out "sugarcubes' at shows, although all (or most ;) were benign, sugar only. Read more on Last.fm.
