Shannon Wakefield

Delivering some of Australia’s finest rock/pop to date, new solo comer Shannon Wakefield takes inspiration from that of the Snow Patrol and The Killers to Australia’s own Tim Rogers, creating solid rock tunes with a alt-pop edge. Delivering some of Australia’s finest rock/pop to date, new solo comer Shannon Wakefield takes inspiration from that of the Snow Patrol and The Killers to Australia’s own Tim Rogers, creating solid rock tunes with a alt-pop edge. Following his birth into song writing at the latter age of 18, Wakefield rocketed into the music scene with the debut of his former power pop band Ruteger in 1997. Playing a stunning three hundered gigs over the period of their rather brief existence, Ruteger played along side some of Australia’s finest, including that of Motor Ace, You Am I, Wolfmother and The Church to name a few. With the release of two independent LP’s, they garnered critical acclaim and solid support with interviews and national airplay on Triple J, RRR and SynTV. But their most notable achievement was their live performance on ABC’s Radio National or honoured by Triple J as one of their 2001 “Next Wave Artists” for Australian Music Month. 2006 saw Wakefield working along side UK Producer Woody Annison (Rocket Science, Red Riders & Children Collide) to co-produce his ten track self titled solo album.

With a more experimental take on the rock/pop genre, Wakefield is working hand in hand with “Woody” to co-produce the debut record, delivering a deeper musical torrent that promises a sound and style all of its own. On March 30th 2007, Shannon Wakefield’s debut solo album (CD/LP VCV001) was released independently in Australia on Verse Chorus Verse Records and worldwide digitally via Itunes/Rubber Records.
