Shakers In The Dark

Shakers in the Dark have been on quite a journey since their inception on New Years Day 2009. Two bassists, one drummer, two guitars, one agogo bell, two tuners, ten lost recordings, six studios, one single release, one remix, five myspace uploads, two cats and one baby. However, it was all just pissing in the wind (except the baby). There was a lot of work but no clear direction. Since June 2010, Shakers in the Dark has become a project in the realest sense by not eliminating influences, ideas, contributors or boundaries.

Shedding the pressures of a gigging outfit, Shakers in the Dark evolved into the working name of two musicians, Dave McSkimming and Paul "Egg" Green who produce their music in their self styled studio in North London. Shakers in the Dark create music influenced primarily by alternative rock and electronica while taking inspiration from trip-hop beat chopping, dubstep grooves, krautrock sonic landscapes and the melodies of great pop and folk music. Songs about love and sorrow underpin lyrics that toy with these subjects that are so intrinsically linked. However, with the project always organically growing and evolving, who knows where Shakers in the Dark might end up next? “Melds guitar indie with luscious synth sounds with considerable panache... positively bristling with hooks that stick in from the first listen... Shakers in the Dark have a very bright future indeed.” Whisperinandhollerin.com Read more on Last.fm.
