Sewer Zombies

Shambles of a US one-man psychotic hardcore rock band: Reach Out And... (Subversive Records SUBV 770 1985) is - humourous, irreverant and probably recorded in a public lavatory circa 1985............. Conquer The Galaxy (Subversive Records SUBV 779 1987) is more polished going for a psycho space rock sound but still underpinned by hard core drumming. Aesop of Ludicra said... "I grew up in South Florida USA in the 80's and have some info on this band. Around 1983 a guy named Mark Subversive showed up in town and started a label called Subversive, he also had a studio in his house where he recorded alot of local punk bands. His label was the first to release anything by Shonen Knife in the states, and he also released some records by German HC band Inferno.

I believe the only local band he ever released through Subversive was We The Living. The Sewer Zombies was an in-house recording project. The drums were done by Mega, the drummer of WTL, and Mark played all the rest of the instruments. Later, Mark did a similar project called The Church Jocks, which I played the drums on, but I don't know if it was ever released.Mark ripped some folks off allegedly and had to split town fast, he later resurfaced in Arizona.

When the Dead Kennedys came through Miami in 87, Jello Biafra requested that The Sewer Zombies open. Not having a band, but not wanting to pass up the opportunity Mark threw together a slapdash live incarnation at the last minute. Hope that is helpful. The record is truly truly amazing and unique."
