The Semi-Pro's (sometimes referred to as Amateurs @ Work) are a no-fi indie folkrock boyband, often credited as being "the best musical performance act since Rick Astley" and even better known for a level of eroticism that rivals anyone. They are best known for their smashhit "Anyway" which topped the US charts for 752 consequetive weeks before being deemed "unfit for radioplay, because frankly, it's just bad". Despite their huge success all over the world, the trio have always remained modest, regularly stating in interviews that "despite being local celebrities they try and live their lives as normally as possible." Speculations about the band's formation have been fueled by numerous conflicting statements given by the band on the matter. In an interview with Melody Maker, the band stated that "they met in after-school bible class", yet a more commonly believed view on their formation is that the group met while playing in a "Bee Gees coverband", which at first consisted of only two members, Siefpief and Bassie.

After being kicked out of his former math-rock band for not knowing the square root of 47, Theylur decided to join as he "had always dreamed of being a Bee Gee". It is more likely however, that the band formed following the permanent hiatus of their former band Amateurs @ Work, featuring Julian G on bass. They are often considered frontrunners in the emerging no-fi movement, which is scheduled to storm charts all over the world in late 2011. All of the bandmembers have therefore appeared in various no-fi supergroups and have remained legends in the local scene.

The band's most significant achievement however, was being ranked in Rolling Stone's "Guys you've just GOTTA date" chart, the results of which have sadly been neglitable. As the bass player in the band, Siefpief has always considered himself the driving force behind the band's no-fi awesomeness, although in reality, he's considered to be the band's least popular member.
