Second in Command

Second in Command (abbreviated oftentimes as 2iC) began as Adam Downer, Jock Gilchrist, and Lucio Leone in a Green Day cover band called The Goners, playing out of Downer's basement. Second in Command (abbreviated oftentimes as 2iC) began as Adam Downer, Jock Gilchrist, and Lucio Leone in a Green Day cover band called The Goners, playing out of Downer's basement. Two practices ensued, both consisting of learning American Idiot, playing ping-pong, and finding out that Jock and Lucio could not play guitar or bass, respectively. Being a band comprised of twelve-year-olds and these criteria, it quickly flopped. Such a farce led Downer and Gilchrist to get serious, putting longtime friend and “Jesus freak” Colin Priest on drums, and Jock's sleepy little brother Duncan on bass.

Finally getting down to writing their own material, Second in Command donned their new persona and was ready to unleash themselves upon the world. They just had one big problem: internal conflict, both with and without the music, was tearing them apart at their onset. To combat this, the two original Goners decided to pick up a new lead guitarist and push Downer to main vocals. Enter Zaki Shafi, a very "reincarnate-of-Keith-Richards-esque" Indian from parts unknown.

Zaki succeeded in bringing relative stability to the band's music and stage presence. Also, around this time, Adam had written a song called "Sparrows Of Prey", that required backup vocals. Jock's lovely singing voice was now discovered, hitting harmonies that required a clean high A note. Any guy who sings knows that high A's are a beast.

With all this music ready and rocking, 2iC desperately wanted to break away from their incompetent, selfish fights and play live. Catching word of this news, Lucio answered the plight of his old band mates, injecting his wisdom, stability, and silver tongue into the mix as the manager/bookie and ending the constant spats within. After booking their first few shows, Colin left the band to focus his attention on his current project, Tranquil Core. Resulting from careful decisions and one very drunken night, Second in Command added double-bass “monkey” Josh Federico to man the percussion set, and finally completed the brotherhood now known as 2iC. 2iC supports the following bands: Goot, All Shall Fail, The Nuclear Suite, Side FX, The New Rivals, The Embrace, Broken Headlights, Tranquil Core, Deuces Wild, November Burning, and all school bands. The end.
