Scorched Deity were a heavy metal band, born on the 24th of September 2006. They were influenced by black metal and melodic death metal. Scorched Deity intended to reinvent the highly influential metal England got it's reputation for. Originally formed with the vision of creating a new sound, by founding members Phillip Larassey (drums), Nik Sinnett (Lead Guitar) and Ricky Wayman (Guitar/vocals). They wrote original songs and would go onto play their 1st gig on the 29th of October with the aid of Michael Tovey, who was never a member but filled in on bass.

Matt Back soon stepped up to take the crown as bassist, and the band continued to gig around the country. Scorched deity continued gigging in December 2006, but the band lost momentum when vocalist and second lead guitarist Ricky Wayman left due to external issues in early 2007. The band later gained vocalist, Bear Unwin, in June 2007 and began picking up momentum again. The struggle went on with having only 1 guitarist and for a while SD were unsure whether they could carry on gigging, but to avoid dropping out of gigs Matt temporarily filled in as guitarist instead of bass. SD continued to audition guitarists, but all seemed bleak.

After a few months, fellow metal head Lloyd McCrossan agreed to have "a jam" with the band. Lloyd's technical talent was exactly what SD were looking for and he later joined as a full member. After playing a few more shows, Ben McIlvenna from one of Lloyd's previous bands joined as keyboardist. This gave SD the exact unique sound they were after. With various issues both inside and outside of the band, the members made the decision to stop playing together, playing their penultimate show as the support act for Akercocke. After this, most of the members went off to do their own thing.
