Grunge band from Osijek, Croatia 1) What is it that makes playing in a band some kind of magical? It’s these incomparable moments like jamming, writing a song and of course being on stage. Moments the Munich based band SCOFF, consisting of Zacki (vocals/guitar), Michi (Bass/add. Vocals) and Malte (drums), knows to savour. About a 100 shows with bands from all over the globe (such as HARMFUL (GER), SPEEDEALER (USA), KARMA 2 BURN (USA), THE AWESOME MACHINE (S), STONERKINGS (FIN), MASS (GER), THE UNDERWATER (USA), u.v.a.), two small tours through Germany and Austria and two EPs are just some of SCOFF’s achievements over the last five years. Also the media are showing growing interest in the three piece formation from the south of Germany. Some examples are for instance MTV who added the single „Dirty Grind“ to their online rock radio or Stonerrock.com where the song awarded the position as „mp3 of the day“.
But SCOFF found additional ways of distributing their works by also doing music for promotional spots for companies like SONY, Rock am Ring, SUZUKI, MICROSOFT, ELECTRONIC ARTS, intel, PARAMOUNT PICTURES, UBISOFT, Jim Beam and Beck’s. The world famous beer brand Beck’s even involved SCOFF as testimonials in one of their trailers (see the videos). Having enjoyed so much encouragement it was about time to start the works for a debut full lenght album last year. SCOFF invaded the DREAMSCAPE Studios in Munich, a place also valued by pro drummer Marco Minnemann (FREAKY FUCKIN WEIRDOZ, H-BLOCKX) during a few recording sessions. The result are 15 songs packed with emotions and devotion. Massive riffs that may remind of a mixture between LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and GODSMACK, song structures that feature the complexity and diversity of bands like TOOL or SOUNDGARDEN and melodic chants in two voices make „Reverse Universe“ an outstanding debut.
2) Scoff is a noise punk/punk band from Dallas, Texas consisting of three guys named Adrian, Kasee, and Nick. Their sound is abrasive, violent, and drugged out. 3) Scoff started out as a duo which consisted of Davi and Wil Pabon, circa 1994. As months passed, Davi wanted to make Scoff a complete outlet to express himself and in 1995 he got together with Mike H. (guitar), Francisco Garcia, aka Pancho (drums), Jose Blanco (bass), and Danny Galarza (lead vocals).
Their first gig was at a high school talent show where they performed a song called "Why?" under the name Half-Eaten-Bread. Shortly after that gig Mike H was given the boot and Jose Blanco left the group to go to college. The remaining members carried on as a trio re-naming themselves Scoff. Davi taught Danny how to play bass and the rest is history.
Scoff taped almost every rehearsal they ever had and were constantly coming up with new songs. They performed at birthday parties, talent shows, water parks, garages, street corners, everywhere you can possibly think of up until 1997 when Davi started cancelling performances and could no longer be in the same room with Danny and Pancho. After graduating high school they mutually agreed to disband. Scoff's final performance was in late 1998 at a party somewhere in Puerto Rico.
Dozens of tapes and videos with live footage were archived, but poor judgment and carelessness led to the loss of almost all of the band's work. In 2003 Pro-Underground Records™ released a compilation album which includes a live performance from 1996 and every Scoff rehearsal from the 1997-1998 era. The compilation gives great insight into what Scoff was all about but unfortunately, many hours worth of great recordings will never be heard. 4) Scoff is a grunge band from Osijek made by 4 guys who are trying to do something about music condition in their city.
