Formed in 1992 at Syracuse University, Sapphire Bullets are: Tyler (John Flansburgh) - guitar/vocal Jared (John Linnell) - keyboards/vocals Dylan a.k.a. Stormy Black (Dan Miller) - guitar Corey (Dan Hickey) - drums Parker (Danny Weinkauf) - bass The band originally included T.J. (Jim O'Connor) on trumpet and Justin (Timothy Newman) on trombone until they made the decision to go boy-band and had to drop to a 5 piece band. Stormy Black was recruited after winning a Guitarmaggedon competition Sapphire Bullets have opened for TMBG three times, 1/27/2001, 10/31/2001, and 4/28/2003.

Each time, they have performed TMBG's 1990 album Flood in its entirety. They have often expressed their love for Flood, even naming their band after a song from the album (Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love) (2) Sapphire Bullets are a jazz-rock fusion group based in London. They were formed in 2008 for the purpose of exploring the music of the Mahavinshnu Orchestra, a complex and ferocious blend of rock, jazz and classical Indian music. The lineup is: Ben Holland (guitar); Jonathan Truscott (violin); Sam Wansborough (keys); Peter Hutchinson (bass) and Nick Monnas (drums).
