This is how the core line-up of the band was formed, which survives to the present day. With this line-up the band started their rehearsals and recording some material. The results of those early efforts were "The Rise" demo (2005) and the "Of Euphoria" EP (2006). Both the recordings were quite a success and got warmly welcomed by the Armenian metal underground to which it was presented and distributed mostly in mp3 format. The sound was much better than the rest of the local bands had.
While the demo sounded like atmospheric black/doom metal, the EP was darker and more extreme and also carried some progressive elements. The songs on the EP already had more depth and complexity and the arrangements were far richer. By that time the band had locally became quite popular and even got involved in some activities out of the Armenian metal underground: the band gave interviews to Ardzaganq and Internews and was also presented along with some of their songs on metal show “Experimetal” hosted by Arsen and Aramazd. Looking for opportunities to do a live concert, the guys recruited Koryun, one of the most furious drummers of the Armenian rock/metal scene. The band's first live appearance took place at Avantgarde Folk Club on September 26th. Also the band’s first video bootleg was shot that day.
After their first concert, the band started recording its first LP. Arsen (a.k.a. Pinhead) from “Experimetal” was invited to take charge of the distorted vocals (he parted ways with the band later in 2008). The full-length was titled "Tended High" and was distributed worldwide by Harbn Productions, a Russian metal label.
The album did not remain unnoticed in the international metal community and was reviewed by such authoritative portals as Darkside.ru, Metal-Observer.com, Powermetal.de and many others. Soon after the release of their first album, the band made a compilation of their old material from "The Rise" and "Of Euphoria", which was named "Twilight". The band continued with live performances. They played two concerts in December 2006, sharing the stage with other Armenian bands. On December 13 2007 they give their first solo concert at Yerevan Puppet Theater and shot their first live DVD. In 2008 the band played on three international metal fests - Metal Attack, Highland Metal Fest and MetalFront Fest 2008.
During those fests the band had the honor to share the stage with such bands as Sadist and Melechesh. After reaching a considerable success in 2008, the band decided to take a break in the succeeding year. During 2009 the members focused on improving their musical skills and the composer of the band, Vladimir worked on developing new musical concepts and new sound. A lot of effort and time was consumed by purchasing new equipment and setting up an own studio. The band members were also considering a band name change, because of the continuous confusion with other bands sharing the same name.
In result of a lengthy deliberation a new name, "Sacrond", was found. This word, made up of ancient druidic roots, seemed to fit perfectly the new philosophic concept and the musical atmosphere of the band. With the conceptual issues settled, the band Sworn, now renamed Sacrond, started composing and recording new material. The first bits of the new stuff ended up in the "Universal Chaos" EP, produced in the band's own studio and released by MetalFront. The EP featured an exclusive new track, an Emperor cover, and some remastered old songs. The name change and the release of the new EP was celebrated by a live show, "Live Obliteration", which took place on May 14 2010.
The concert was a sort of farewell to Sworn, which was honored by the greatest hits of the early period, and a welcome to Sacrond, which was represented by a number of compositions from the upcoming album, "The Arcane Age". The show was shot for a DVD release, to be expected in November 2010. In summer 2010 Sacrond's drummer, Koryun, left the band seeking to continue his musical career in the United States. He was replaced by a young promising drummer Harout, who immediately joined the band's activities. At present Sacrond is working on the remaster of some old material and is preparing the release of the new album. Some further line-up changes, which will be necessary to fit the new concept of the band, are also expected and will be announced at the proper moment. Read more on Last.fm.
