Ryan Hui was born in Hong Kong. At the age of 14 he left for the U.S to attend high school and college in California. While living in the States, Ryan formed the punk-rock band “One Foot Forward.” The band was well received and have performed and toured around the U.S. Members of the band later left and Ryan continued to pursue music on his own by singing in local venues with his guitar. Ryan’s first performance, at the age of 11, was held in the Hong Kong coliseum in 1987 with his father.

Being the son of accomplished singer-songwriter Sam Hui, Ryan has been heavily influenced by his father's love for music. Ryan continued to write his own music and perform all over the world. In 2004 Ryan returned to Hong Kong to continue his music career. During this time he released his debut EP titled “Hoi Hui” and later remade a classic Sam Hui song from the 70’s (bun gan baat loeng) into a fresh rock version. In 2008, Ryan’s talent along with his guitar landed him an endorsement with U.S.

top guitar brand “Gibson” which is a first for a Hong Kong singer. Ryan is now in the studio working on his next album with his first single “Tin Ha Bat Lyun” currently on air. The song was composed by Ryan and produced by Eric Kwok along with renowned drummer Jun Kung. In addition Ryan continues to work with promotions and occasionally performs in Mainland China.
