Rulers Of The Planet

Rulers Of The Planet began in 2004. Theirs is the story of 5 dudes who used to drink too much, mosh too much and, occasionally, play loud guitars in Cork's best alternative bar, The Brog. As much by accident as by design, they wrote a bagful of songs and ended up performing them in the now-defunct Lobby Bar in Cork. A sound that was equal parts Wire, Gang Of Four, Therapy? and The Clash gradually became identifiably Rulers Of The Planet.

The band dug deep in their pockets scraping together enough cash to record their first EP, ³No-one Understands The Devil's Music Better Than The Rulers Of The Planet². After positive reactions and a 2FM Session the band began 2004 with a second EP, ³We Are The Late Night Terror Death Squad², and a ³Hot Shots For 2004² recommendation from Hot Press Magazine. All of which gave them the perfect excuse to start a relentless touring schedule that honed their set in preparation for recording the début album. Their schedule included a slot at Oxegen 2004 and the sold out Hard Working Class Heroes Festival as well as initial forays over to the UK with shows in London and at the Manchester leg of the In The City Festival. Rulers Of The Planet offer one of the most visceral live experiences in Ireland, combining a keen sense of melody with hard-edged guitars and lyrics that speak of rotten friendships, psycho girlfriends and, more importantly a riotous celebration of life. The band have recently signed a worldwide publishing deal with Jewel DC Publishing and have had 'Jesus Freak' released in Germany/Switzerland/Austria as part of ZYX Records, Punk n Roll Alicious Volume 2. 2006 also saw Rulers release their 'Voodoo EP' in GSA on ZYX Records and complete tours of Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia. In summer 2006, Rulers returned to the studio to record their second album, which has recently been completed in Weltraum Studios, Munich.

The album is due for release in early 2007. Watch this space. . . . Rulers Of The Planet are: Drums: Kieran Bass: Ed Guitar: Ian Guitar: Mick Vocals: Barry Read more on Last.fm.
