Rudsambee was started by Sheena Phillips in 1993 as a small group of people interested in singing together. The name came from the Gaelic expression rud sam bith idir meaning ‘anything at all’, a fair description of their repertoire even then. In 1999 Sheena left to start a new life in the USA, and under the new directorship of Frances Cockburn Rudsambee went from strength to strength, touring the Scottish Highlands, performing at Royal Gala Dinners, visits to Norway, Ireland, York, Cockermouth, Whithorn, Arran, Berwick-upon-Tweed and the Czech Republic, performing with strings, organs, recorders, brass, many choirs and groups and swelling their recorded output. Now numbering 21 singers, Rudsambee's new director, Oliver Singleton, has given the choir a new lease of life and many exciting new challenges. During his directorship to date he has introduced a number of new, refreshing pieces to Rudsambee’s already varied programme.

New music he has added to our repertoire - from the early polyphony of Thomas Tallis and Tomás Luis de Victoria, right up to date with Eric Whitacre and Imogen Heap helped to make a new CD, what are they doing a reality.
