Not limited to any single style, he is influenced by trip hop, electro, downtempo, dub, breaks, acid jazz, funk, blues, and rock. Tracks are digitally assembled using an Apple computer and his meticulously engineered sound is a combination of sequences, loops, synths, and live recordings. Colin’s discography as Ronin E-Ville includes Big Dirty HiFi (CD, 2008) and Ronin vs. C-Bone (CDR, 2004).
His music has been nominated for an Independent Music Award, was a runner up for American Idol Underground, spent two months in the top 20 of the Earshot! Canadian radio charts for electronica, and has been featured in the award-winning TV show, Departures. Currently a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at York University, Colin is researching the music of the martial arts. He still finds time to devote to writing music and often collaborates with local dancers and choreographers. As a DJ, he has played a diverse range of shows from bars, lounges, and clubs, to art shows and even a beauty pageant. He also works as a freelance audio engineer. Read more on Last.fm.
