What more do you want out of life?" - Geoff Berner Straight from the stage of a dusty old saloon – the beautiful, sorrowful, American Gothic music of Rhubarb Whiskey is just as much at home in 1890 as they are in 2010. Rhubarb Whiskey released their first full length album in July 2011. It features original murder ballads, covers of classic american folk songs and a unique tale of bears and booze whose lyrics were penned by the infamous award winning author Poppy Z.

Brite. They are already hard at work on album #2 and are continuing to craft tintype tales of heartache, murder, drinking, and the open road. BAND HISTORY What do you get when a queer poet, a punk guitarist and a fey violinist come together? Rhubarb Whiskey. Rhubarb Whiskey was formed by Boylamayka and Emchy in early 2008. Boylamayka, former guitarist for Berkeley punk band Subincision, contributes mandolin, guitar, and upright bass, and vocals to the duo. Emchy, a veteran of the San Francisco spoken word scene, sings and plays haunting melodies on her accordion.

Sizzle La Fey joined the crew in 2010 and plays the fiddle with leads fierce enough to tempt the devil. They have released a six-song EP, and appeared on three compilations – Goin’ Back Home Vol. 10, Sepiachord Passport, and A Pile of Lo-Fi Vol. 5. They have played all over the Bay Area, at DNA Lounge, the Swedish American Music Hall, El Rio, The Sunshine Artisan Factory, Starry Plough, and more, and shared stages with Unwoman, The Billy Boys, Bye Bye Blackbirds, T&A, Mars Arizona, Liquor Cake, Victoria & The Vaudevillians, and many others.
